Useful Information for Getting Around in Lagos

The city can be covered on foot without problems, though some people prefer the tourist train that runs from Avenida dos Descobrimentos to Ponta da Piedade, crossing Praia Dona Ana and Porto de Mós beaches. The Tourism information desk is located in Sitio de São João, in the eastern part of the city.

Lagos Onda Bus Routes – Local Bus

The local Lagos Bus is called “Onda” (wave) and it’s managed by FuturLagos. The network is composed by 9 different color coded Bus routes which run usually from ~8:00AM to ~7:30PM and until midnight during the Summer season. It’s advisable to check for detailed timetable information on FuturLagos website.

  1. Line 1 (Red route): A city center route. Starting and ending at Lagos Train station, nearby the Marina;
  2. Line 2 (Blue Route): A more or less coastal route. Starting and ending at Forte da Meia Praia, nearby the Palmares Golf Course;
  3. Line 3 (Pink route): Starting and ending in Odiáxere; passing on Av. dos Descobrimentos (the opposite side of Lagos Marina);
  4. Line 4 (Yellow route): Starting and ending in Burgau; passing on Av. dos Descobrimentos (the opposite side of Lagos Marina);
  5. Line 5 (Orange route): Starting and ending at Montes Juntos; passing at Praça do Infante on Av. dos Descobrimentos (the opposite side of Lagos Marina);
  6. Line 6 (Green route): Starting and ending in Barão de São João; passing at Praça do Infante on Av. dos Descobrimentos (the opposite side of Lagos Marina);
  7. Line 7 (Brown route): Starting and ending at Bensafrim municipal market; passing on Av. dos Descobrimentos (the opposite side of Lagos Marina);
  8. Line 8 (Purple route): Starting and ending nearby Torraltinha; passing in Odiáxere municipal market and Monte Ruivo (North of A22).
  9. Line 9 (Turquoise route): Starting and ending at Lagos Sports Complex; passing in Torraltinha.

As you noticed, more or less all Buses stop nearby Lagos Sports Complex or Lagos Marina at some point, so it’s easy to switch between routes. It’s also good to choose some accommodation nearby if you are planning to rely on public transportation.

The train station is located just nearby Lagos Marina and it’s a short walking distance from the city centre.
